Outback Bathrooms creator Matt Sandrey, from Christchurch, originally built a mobile bathroom so he and his wife, Ann-Maree, could take it camping. When the Christchurch earthquakes struck in 2011, the prototype bathroom provided friends and neighbours who were without power and running water with the welcome luxury of a hot shower after a hard day's work. It was then that Matt's friends and neighbours convinced him to develop the luxury mobile bathroom and toilet hire concept into a business.
