The Manawatu Tram was first mooted in 2000 by Paul O'Brien then Chair of Manawatu Art Galleries (now Te Manawa).Our vision is that emissions free public transport powered by renewable energy becomes the community's preferred transport option. To further this vision we work with our community, businesses, Councils and Government. Our work in transport and related fields is characterised by independence, research, reporting and advocacy. We seek to improve policy and decision makingthrough evidential information, market intelligence and analysis.In 2009 a Project Office headed by "MG" Gopalan was established. Vehicle design work is currently progressing under the leadership of Trustee Kevin Gale.
