About Miscarriage Support Auckland Inc. Our Mission Statement; We are a small group of women, who having experienced miscarriage, formed a Not for Profit, NGO organization to give peer support to women for the grief that many feel during and after miscarriage and also consequent pregnancies. It is our mission to;  Offer our information, acknowledgement and empathy that they have experienced both the birth and the death of their baby and validate their often hidden grief, and rather than rescue, give support for hope and healing.  To promote understanding of the grief of the 1 in 4 miscarriages that occur in pregnancies as it often goes unrecognised in the community, and can be minimized and invalidated by others.  To specifically offer this information to health professionals and others who may wish to know about their patients' perspective of miscarriage, helping them deliver more appropriate and sensitive care.  To supply our support and information via Supportline, mail, fax, forum, email, 'Understanding Miscarriage' pamphlets and our comprehensive 100 page website to individuals, hospitals, doctors' surgeries, midwives, support agencies, Plunket, CAB's, libraries and any other relative community and health organizations.  To advocate for women Miscarriage often leaves miscarrying women feeling guilt, isolation, loneliness and shame as they experience grief. The intensity of it is related to the bond they have formed with their baby, sometimes unknowingly, and cannot be judged by the length of the pregnancy. A consequence of unresolved grief can be post-natal distress/depression and/or relationship breakdown, thus our services are aimed both at women and their families. Information; 100 page Website; Miscarriagesupport.org.nz Supportline; 09 378 4060 Office; 09 360 4034 Email: [email protected] Pamphlets; 'Understanding Miscarriage'
