The Wobbly Goat Café - Outram Named according to the legend of the discovery of coffee beans by an Ethiopian goat herder, the Wobbly Goat Café on the main street of Outram has become a major attraction for both locals and visitors to the town alike. The Doherty family bought the café in 2013 - Keady, Erin and Holly run the Café on a day to day basis with younger brother Ryan and Fred & Clare (Mum and Dad) helping out as required, so it's a real family operation. Fred is passionate about the Outram community, and knows a good café is the heart of a thriving country town. When the Dohertys first took over the place, Fred and the girls reconfigured the small kitchen to suit a menu that includes cooked brunches and lunches, and within the first four days Fred had built a new courtyard to take maximum advantage of Outram's unique microclimate. The Wobbly Goat has become part of the fabric of Outram, and that owes much to it being run by locals. "Some of the customers have watched the girls grow up," says Fred. "People love that they're born and bred in Outram and they know everybody. That's what being a community is all about." We get our bacon from Lyndon Gold at the Outram Butchery, seasonal fruit and veg from McArthur's Berry Farm down the road, and our coffee from Wendy Jepson's Fat Cat Coffee roastery around the corner. You'd be hard pressed to get fresher or more community-minded than that."
