Future Focussed Services (Sustainable, Adaptable

This is New Zealand’s mental health and addiction system; it has evolved over the last 15-20 years, it continues to develop, it is envied by many countries over the world and its success depends on each part of the system doing its bit well.. Community organisations employ staff who help people stay well by connecting them to their community family and friends, this means finding places to live, things to do and employment.

Capable Services (Developing our Workforce

The clinical mental health and addictions workforce is dwindling worldwide therefore NGOs and the government must develop new strategies and increase investment in order to retain relevant skills and qualities in their workforce. They have largely developed their own workforce and now employ a skilled and competent mix of professions and support workers from Maori, Pakeha, Pacific, Asian, and many other backgrounds.
