If you have any bright ideas of places to publicise or ways of putting the Club’s name in front of people please let your committee know.

Would there be people at your workplace or a group of people you interact with or know about who might be interested in tramping? Any ideas gratefully accepted!!

For Sale - Gators

Trek ‘n Travel have kindly donated eight pairs of short gators (all the small size) to the club.  The club is selling them at the cheap price of $15 (a fraction of their retail price).  If you are interested in buying a pair please contact Selwyn June on 07 843 3066.

trees from many countries. This is an excellent coffee table item. Each book

This updated booklet has been published by the Pirongia Te Aroaro o Kahu Restoration Society. Pleasantly presented in full colour with many photographs, it tells of the bush, geology, fauna, history and recreation of the park.

The booklet costs just $4 and can be ordered from John Wilson, ph 853 6464.

Did you know that your tramping club has loads of topomaps available to borrow? Contact Tracey Riley, 07 849 3565 to find out what we have.

Club Bulletin

The Waikato Tramper, the monthly publication of The Waikato Tramping Club (Inc), is free to all members.  The bulletin is available by subscription to non members.  The subscription is $27.50 per year including GST and postage.  Contact the Membership Officer to arrange.

Members are invited to contribute articles at any time.  Copy should be sent to the Bulletin Editor by the Friday after club night for inclusion in that month's issue.  Please don't wait for the deadline, send your info in early.

Are you using Boot or Ski Lockers at the Waikato Hut?

If Yes, please advise the Membership Officer of your locker number(s) to ensure the club records are up-to-date.

Failing to advise the Membership Officer of your Locker number(s) will result in lockers being forced open (at no cost to the club) to identify the occupier.

Tramper of the Year - 2011

Congratulations to:

Lesley Kuggeleijn

Could this be you for 2012???

Each year we perform a popular Club ceremony;  the presentation of the Tramper of the Year trophy.  The trophy is a light hearted award, which none the less is always made to a deserving recipient.

The first Tramper of the Year was in 1967.  It has been presented annually ever since and recipient's names now extend to the wooden base.  The award was the brainchild of a member who worked in an engineering firm, which also explains why the trophy is so heavy!

The Tramper of the Year isn't necessarily the person who has done the most trips, but is the one who has had the greatest impact on trips and the life of the club over the year.  The recipient can not have previously won the trophy and is always chosen by the previous Tramper of the Year.

Mobile phones vs land lines

When booking in a trip (either by filling in the form at club night, or leaving a voice mail message with the trip leader), could you please use your land line number (if you have one). It starts getting very expensive for trip leaders to contact each mobile.  Thanks.
