Hello everyone, I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New year. I am finally properly back on board and it has already been a full on start to the year with a massive trip down to Dunedin for a wedding and a couple of family shoots last weekend.

I had a wonderful break with my family though, first we went to Nelson. It was just after all the flooding they had but there really weren’t too many disruptions and the weather was amazing. Then we came home for a quiet Christmas in Welly which was awesome.

Wedding Photography - Vintage Reflections Retro Portrait & Wedding Photography

Virginia and Fala are such a fun, happy couple they’re a joy to be around and a blast to photograph. Their wedding was so sweet and full of emotion that I actually cried a little during the ceremony. It’s weddings like this one that remind me why I love wedding photography. I had so much fun photographing this wedding.

Inspiration - Vintage Reflections Retro Portrait & Wedding Photography

There are kids riding bikes and scooters, teenagers hanging out and laughing, couples walking dogs and I’ve even seen a grandad on a scooter. It’s a place enjoyed and shared by the very young to the very old and young at heart. There is something about it on a good day when it’s humming with activity. One of my favourite places to people watch is the Wellington waterfront.

Film Soup - Vintage Reflections Retro Portrait & Wedding Photography

Unlike more complicated film cameras the Holga’s shutter system is independent of the winding mechanism. The simplicity of the Holga means that you can play with it in ways that you can’t with other cameras. This means that the Holga does not require the film to be wound on in order to take the next frame.
