Vin Alto in Clevedon is the realisation of a dream for Enzo Bettio and his family, combining vineyards and olive groves with a deer farm and Italian inspired hospitality.
Enzo has for many years been a lover of Italian wines with their many varieties and styles and their wonderful affinity to the Mediterranean and Italian foods that were an influential part of his background.
Vin Alto wines are a marriage of old world charm and new world flair resulting in a range of wines that have a growing reputation for being excitingly different to any other in New Zealand.
From the planting of the first vines, to the first vintage in the small family winery, Vin Alto has been growing and evolving into an integrated farm with complementing activities including the Enoteca.
The Enoteca also houses Enzo's collection of antique wine glass ware, collected from both New Zealand and overseas, as well as an impressive collection of antique corkscrews, ancient presses and other fascinating wine memorabilia.
Vineyard and winery tours can also be arranged for those intrigued by this winemaking style. With views that extend out to Waiheke Island and Coromandel, a walk through these leafy vineyards on a balmy warm day while gaining an insight into how high quality fruit is coaxed from these vines would be very memorable.
No long wine record to show, volcanic soils and slightly drier districts hold potential. Warm/cool, semi humid climate
