I have just finished a shift at the hospital and as I interact with many of the elderly I wonder about family care for those who come before us.

Mothers are always mothers no matter how old or frail they become.

Do we all truly care and take responsibility for our aged ones as our mothers took responsibility for us when we were young?

Life is about caring for others and sharing generations together as a whanau in good times and challenging ones.

We all need some laughs, some together times, to feel respected and to have the acknowledgement of contribution towards others,  even in the most minute ways.

Some thoughts for the evening as Autumn quickly moves  to Winter and awakeness turns to slumber.

As stories are woven intricately, a balance of life’s finely textured fibres hold our communities together with core values that honor spirit, acceptance, apology, respect and care for others and our environment. When first inspired some years ago, to develop out of the ordinary travel opportunities for women, it was the stories and experiences of others from all walks of life that I loved.

Since I began the concept of taking women out of their comfort zone to experience out of the ordinary travel experiences, one of my visions was to provide the opportunity for some well deserving, ‘unsung heroes’ to join us on some of these travels. Travelling “The Road Less Travelled” way is to do so in a non judgemental way, to have the ability to go with the flow and to leave the place better for the experience our footprints left.
