The Glacier Country Rugby Cup 2011 is a large social media and PR campaign involving Heineken, Telecom, West Coast Tourism, TranzAlpine and West Coast Development which aims drive tourism benefits to the region as a result of the Rugby World Cup 2011. With the West Coast feeling left out, a marketing strategy was designed and implemented to firmly cement the region in the minds of tourists coming to our shore as a result of the RWC. Furthermore, the use of social media is building long term communication channels with current and potential customers to engage with, disseminate marketing messages and build brand awareness.
