About Stress Reduction

Jillian offers the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction programme (MBSR). Originating over 30 years ago in the US, this is the most researched and proven form on mindfulness-based stress management in the western world. Having been trained in this approach by Jim Carmody from the Massachusetts Medical School, Jillian has been teaching and researching this programme here in NZ for over 7 years. MBSR is an 8 week programme, with 2 hour classes each week. Participants learn various ways to access their inner ability to be mindful. These include a form of lying down meditation, breathing practices, sitting meditation and gentle stretching exercises. In addition more general information about managing stress is offered. Participants receive guided instruction CDs; participate in a range of exercises to enhance awareness in everyday life; improve interpersonal communication; engage in daily homework assignments; and most importantly - have fun
