Tauira Tautoko provides a culturally safe social space for Máori students to spend time with friends, safe in the knowledge that ideas, experiences and conversation can flow freely. Our staff are available to provide you with information to help keep you in touch with cultural groups, events and activities that you may be interested in. We have facilities for students to keep in touch with family and whanau.

Hours 9am-4pm Monday to Friday.

What’s on - FREE student workshops & activities

Lunchtime Activities at Tauira Tautoko - Student Support Centre – C Block – 12.15-1pm

  • Tuesday:  Free Waka Toi Mahi–Traditional and Contemporary Maori Art Workshops.  Includes weaving, carving, canvas art and more. See schedule below
  • Wednesday:   Waiata Wenerei.  Words are provided and everyone is welcome!!

Come & share a special time with visitors from four Mental Health Services in Southland during lunch times.  Here is your chance to find out about how to keep ourselves mentally healthy, and what services and support is available when our friends, whanau or classmates become unwell.

Youth Guarantee Scheme

Students enrolled under the Youth Guarantee Scheme will not be eligible for student loans and in some cases, student allowances. The Youth Guarantee Scheme will cover all tuition fees, material and equipments costs for one year. Successful applicants will be sent an enrolment form which you need to complete and return. Regular student liaison contact available. Please complete an SIT Enrolment Form. What courses can I enrol in.
