A Thermal Camera Imaging Inspection can reveal electrical and mechanical problems and prevent costly failures and down time.

Please see below several Thermal Camera Imaging Inspections performed by NES staff.

Task:

To check overheating of 200 HP Pump

Location:

   Branxhome water treatment

Challenges:

To check temperatures of the motors to find out how much temperatures have risen since the last thermal survey.

How it was done:

The old thermal images of the motors were compared with the new ones. It revealed that connection box on a motor was running much hotter. The bad connection in the motor was found.

Equipment used:

   Thermal Camera - FLIR I40

  Task:

To find which bearing is wearing on pump

Location:

   Waikiwi water

Challenges:

Identify normal temperatures. Find differences in bearing temperatures.

How it was done:

It was done by Thermal Camera Imaging Inspection. Thermal Image of the pumps with both bearings in view helped to identify normal temperature and find differences in bearing temperatures.

Equipment used:

   Thermal Camera - FLIR I40

 Task:

To find overheating in switchboard and control components.

Location:

   Sergeant Dan, Gore

Challenges:

Inspect switchboards and identify overheating components.

How it was done:

It was done by Thermal Camera Imaging Inspection. During inspection we had to look for temperatures higher than normal. To do this we had to check similar equipment under similar loads to find any differences between the two.

Equipment used:

   Thermal Camera - FLIR I40
