Western Institute of Technology:
Assisted WITT to structure, prepare and support an application for a $10 million Government grant for new educational facilities. This included reviewing their governance and financial structure. Although the competitive grant application reached the final round, funding ultimately went to another tertiary institution.
Nga Kaihautu o Te Arawa:
Provided strategic advice to affiliated Te Arawa iwi and hapu on communications, marketing and policy development. Directly assisted Nga Kaihautu o Te Arawa in commercial negotiations with the Crown over the group's Treaty claim, which was successfully concluded in 2009 as part of the Central North Island collective settlement. The Government subsequently returned 176,000 hectares of forestry land together with its accumulated rentals to Maori ownership.
Provided commercial advice to Ngati Manawa for their direct negotiations with the Crown over their Treaty of Waitangi claim. This claim too was successfully concluded as part of the Central North Island collective settlement.
Te Puni Kokiri:
Provided Te Puni Kokiri with advice on governance for Māori Trusts and Incorporations, and reviewed a specific business development programme. Assisted with strategic planning for governance and appointments.
Rangiteiki District Council:
Undertook a feasibility study on the establishment of an agricultural training institute to be based in the Rangitikei.
Prepared a feasibility study and assisted in the successful application for a Lottery grant of $6.5 million to build a new visitor centre for the Zealandia wildlife sanctuary.
Taupo Race Track:
Successfully revised the feasibility study and application for funding for the development of the Taupo Race Track, allowing the promoters to secure Government grants of $2 million.
Team BLM Ltd:
Assisted in preparing an Information Memorandum and raising capital from private investors to fund research and script development for a feature length movie on the life and achievements of Bruce McLaren.
Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry:
Assisted MAF in structuring and obtaining Cabinet approval for the commercial sale of residual State Forests worth approximately $20 million.
Kapiti Acquatic Centre:
Assisted the trust in preparing a strategic plan and the successful application for a Lottery grant of $650,000 towards building a new acquatic centre.
The Reforest Trust:
Established and promoted a registered charitable trust for funding protection forests to control erosion on reverting hill country land. Securing the land, planting and managing the forests is financed by the forward sale of carbon credits under the Emissions Trading Scheme.
