Leading energy services company Senergy has appointed a vice president (VP) of finance and information systems to further harness the Group’s rapid global growth.

Highly-experienced finance professional Mike McEwan takes up the role at Senergy’s Energy Services Division and will lead finance and information systems throughout the Group. He will work alongside Senergy’s Chief Financial Officer, Neil Campbell and Managing Director of Senergy’s Energy Services Division, Mike Bowyer.

His appointment comes just a month after Vivien Broughton joined Senergy as vice president (VP) of resources to underpin the company’s commitment to building and developing its global talent pool.

James McCallum, Senergy’s chief executive officer, said: “Over the past two years, Senergy has evolved significantly particularly in the Middle East, Europe and Africa while the demand for our integrated, consultancy services and technical expertise is leading to larger projects. This organic growth has also resulted in Senergy creating considerable new employment opportunities around the world.

“As part of our strategy to ensure Senergy’s future sustainable growth and continued market-leading position, we are focused on consolidating our international infrastructure especially our people. Mike’s appointment is a key part of this approach. He brings a vast amount of expertise across a diverse range of industries and geographies which will provide a vital insight into how the Energy Services business can continue to advance. His experience in working in people-based businesses, implementing financial controls and working to ensure that the needs of the business are met, will also be invaluable.”

Mike was previously finance director of the European business at RMJM, a leading international architectural practice with more than 1,000 staff and a turnover in excess of £100million. Prior to this, he held director and Group-level roles at companies including Alfred McAlpine’s facilities management business, Stockland Property Group, in Australia; and the UK’s largest privately owned house-building, property development and construction services company, Miller Group.

A qualified chartered accountant, Mike’s career spans more than 17 years during which he has built an impressive track record in business leadership, creating innovative financial strategies and business models as well as being involved in major joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions.

He said: “Senergy is a dynamic and innovative company that I have always been acutely aware of and which I am now excited to be a part of. As one of the UK’s fastest-growing, privately-owned businesses, Senergy has successfully capitalised on a niche sector of the energy industry and enjoyed exceptional growth which has been driven through its people.

“I look forward to helping to build on this solid foundation to take Senergy to its next level of global growth.  As part of this, I will be developing the integrated finance strategy for the Energy Services division to ensure the continued expansion and success of the business by providing dedicated support to the operations and finance teams.”

Senergy, which was established in 2005, employs more than 500 people worldwide across its Aberdeen headquarters and through a network of global offices in the UK, Norway, the Middle East, Australia, South East Asia and the Americas.

The company delivers fully integrated project and asset development services across the energy industry, and has rapidly emerged as a global leader in diversified energy services through organic growth and a series of acquisitions.

Senergy’s services encompass alternative energy solutions, geosciences, reservoir engineering, geohazard assessment, marine site surveys, rig positioning, wells engineering and operations and project management.
