Cricket fans should flock to Seddon Park this summer to see the touring South African Cricket team in action. The team is highly ranked in all forms of the game and always tough competitors. Seddon Park fans get the opportunity to see them clash with the Black Caps in a Twenty/20 International and a traditional 5 day Test Match

Seddon Park - home

Seddon Park is a purpose-built international quality cricket facility with a village green setting and picnic like atmosphere in the heart of Hamilton City. Seddon Park is home for Northern Districts Cricket and their flagship team the Northern Knights from which a number of players have become Black Caps.

In 1997 a merger between Westpac and Trust Bank meant the renaming of the ground to WestpacTrust Park in line with the new bank's name and subsequently a further change was made to Westpac Park. Seddon Park has been the home of the Northern Districts' Cricket Association since the Association was formed for the 1953 season.

There had been periods of strength, especially during the early 1930s when a Waikato XI did very well in the competition for minor associations. Its scope was wider than the Waikato: it drew players from Northland, Thames Valley, King Country, and the Bay of Plenty and Gisborne areas. This strength underscored a regional movement to form an association to play in the first-class competition for the Plunket shield trophy.
