With over 30 years' experience in the marine industry, Bob Doyle is able to offer a full consultancy service on any aspect of marine engineering from reducing engine noise on a small yacht, specifying and supplying feathering or folding propeller .
Designing and supplying completer exhaust systems to military, commercial and pleasure yachts.
Bob’s last project before leaving the UK was London’s premier sightseeing river cruse company 'City Cruises' based at Westminster Pier on the River Thames.
City cruise operate 6 large luxury vessels on the river Thames and after the success in reducing exhaust noise to a minimum on their vessel Mayflower Park they asked bob Doyle again to design and supply a complete exhaust system for M.V. Millennium of London with seats up to 156 passengers.
Fitted with 2 x 400 hp Cummins Main Engines and 2 x 50 hp Perkins Generators the engine room limit space gave bob a problem but with some custom made GRP dual chamber silencers for the main engine and lift silencers and water separation for the gen sets the results were outstanding.
Noise reading taken before the new system was fitted were in excess of 90 Dba on both the main engine and gen sets but after the refit it reduced to approx 65Dba. What our client said:
“The new systems fitted to the Millennium of London have dramatically reduced engine noise levels, this has improved crew morale and ultimately our customer’s experience whilst aboard.”
