General:
The house will be unlocked upon your arrival. Electricity will be switched on.
Toilet paper, cleaning products etc are stored in the plastic containers on the wall in the toilet. Mops, vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board etc can be found in the storage cabinet in the bathroom.
Rubbish bags are under the sink in the kitchen and are simply deposited in the large council bins across the street.

Oven & Fridge

:

The oven is run by natural gas, which is provided by a large gas bottle which is inside the cupboard between the oven and the fridge. Although the oven may seem somewhat old, it is clean and safe and provides very good cooking heat.

Both the oven and the hobs require lighting with a naked flame. Matches and/or lighters are provided.

The small fridge provides sufficient storage for a short period of time. The freezer compartment will hold a little food frozen, but requires that the front door be firmly closed.

Location Map & Driving Instructions for accommodation in South France

If travelling direct to France from the South Pacific, we recommend arranging flights into Los Angeles and then the Lufthansa connections via Germany, and then across to Toulouse. These flight arrangements lessen the actual travel time and keep you clear of the congestion in Paris or Heathrow. It has a 1000 year old ruined chateau and spectacular views across the Languedoc Valley towards the Pyrenees.

History of the House

In earlier times, farm animals were kept overnight in the cellar beneath the house, both for protection for the stock during the harsh winters as well as to provide a source of natural heating to the residents There are still rusty old metal rings in the cellar walls which show where the animals were tethered.

The Structure of the House

Downstairs, you will find the dining room, which exits out to the 20m² tiled deck with the gas BBQ, a small but very French functional kitchen, combined shower and laundry room, plus a separate toilet. The house is a spilt level stone structure, built in two parts about 200 years ago, with sleeping upstairs and living, kitchen and washing facilities downstairs.
