February 16, 2012
Harvesting and thinning operations start in Whaka on the 22nd February through to April.
Several areas will be affected over this time but each one for only a short duration.
Mountain bike, walking and horse tracks within the harvest areas will be CLOSED to all users until reinstated following the completion of each harvest area.
Mountain bike, walking and horse tracks and roads, along side or near harvest areas, will be CLOSED to all users during felling, when any sections are within the Felling Danger Zone.
These tracks and roads will be open during weekends and outside working hours, unless closed by signage. Please observe closure notices and banners. There may be alternative routes or detours available.
Logging trucks will be operating. All other road users must give way to trucks and get off the roadway quickly.
The closures and inconvenience are unavoidable for the safety of all, but Timberlands Limited will endeavour to minimise the impact to recreational users wherever possible.
Notices and signage will be set up as normal to advise of these closures.
