March 14, 2012
Tree felling has been completed in AREA 1 (between Nursery, Radio Hutt and Pohaturoa roads) and is expected to be completed in AREA 2 (top of Katore Rd near Tokorangi Rd) on, or by 12 March. However, log removal will continue via Katore, Radio Hut and Nursery roads until approximately 16 March. Please be aware of logging trucks and machinery. Challenge, Gunna Gotta and the Corridor MTB tracks remain CLOSED until reinstated.
On Monday 12 March, tree felling ( production THINNING ) will move from the Katore Road area (AREA 2) to the block between Nursery, Pohaturoa and Baker’s Hollow roads in the vicinity of the Dipper, Tahi and Creek MTB tracks (AREA 3) for a duration of approximately 1-2 weeks. See map for location.
The Dipper, Tahi and Creek MTB tracks will be CLOSED. The Yellow walking track will be CLOSED THROUGH THE LOGGING AREA. Signs will notify closures.
Tree Felling has now also commenced in AREA 4 (near the treated effluent holding ponds adjacent to Katore Road). See Map (updated 13 March) for location.
'A' Trail and Lion Trail MTB tracks and Purple walking track will be CLOSED for approximately 2 weeks. Signs will notify closures. The Purple track can be detoured onto Nursery Rd to complete the circuit.
Please take alternative route or detours (if available). A bypass track is available along Nursery Rd when Nursery Rd is closed due to hazardous work occurring on or adjacent this popular access route. DO NOT go past “Road Closed” signs, banners or tapes. No access to the public will be permitted through or near the hazard areas until signage is removed.
Timberlands Limited wishes to thank the public for their patience and cooperation while forest management operations are being carried out in the Whaka Forest.
