Perazzi New Zealand

By: Perazzi New Zealand  05-Apr-2012

2011 has been another exceptional year of success for Perazzi in all ISSF Clay Target Disciplines and particularly Trap which is considered by many to be the Formula 1 of Clay Target Shooting.

For the last 18 years Perazzi have won EVERY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP & OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL in Mens Trap!

Try as they may with all their new innovations, no other gun in history has been this successful and Perazzi have achieved this with a gun designed more than 40 years ago!

Makes you wonder why you would consider anything else.

Following on from yesterdays great effort of 74/75, Jack shot a solid 24 to be on 98/100 to continue to jointly lead the Junior World Championship in Trap.

In an earlier squad, the young shooter from Kuwait who was tied with Jack for the championship posted a 24 in his last round to finish on a total of 122 leaving Jack in the uneviable position of knowing that a perfect score would win it, 24 would force a shootoff and 23 would leave him in silver position.

Not one to back down from the challenge, Jack shot brilliantly and went into his last 5 targets 1 target down. Unfortunately his third to last target slipped away resulting in a 23 & a total of 121 and the Silver Medal.

Not only did Jack win the Silver Medal, he also shot his International Olympic MQS to qualify him for the NZ Olympic team for London next year.

Congratulations Jack!

Jack Norwood started his 2011 World Juniour Championship campaign with a brillant 25 in the first round of competition at the World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. He then posted another 25 in his second round to make it 50 straight. In the 3rd & last round of the day, Jack missed his 15th target after it alluded him, however he was to prove too good for the last 10 targets of that round and finished with a solid 24.

Jack now leads the field in the Junior World Championship on 74 ex 75. Also on 74 is Laszio Solyom from Austria. Close on their heels with 73 are 3 other shooters, with a further 6 shooters on 72.

Late tonight (our time) Jack will be shooting his last 2 rounds. You can follow his progress via the following link.

Waitemata Clay Target Club made the decision to invest a significant amount of money in upgrading their Olympic Trap layout late last year and purchased a full set of NEW Laporte Traps & Laporte control system. As part of the upgrade, the trap house & lanes have been revamped and improved. While the first targets were shot several weeks ago, the first event will be held on May 8th (1.5 weeks away) with a 100 target match plus final.

The Official Opening is planned for the 23rd & 24th of July with the City of Auckland Championship (200 targets plus finals - yes graded finals!). The opening will be a grand event with some very very high profile guests. So put these dates in you diary and we will see you there.

May 8th - 100 target + final

July 23rd & 24th - City of Auckland (200 target + graded finals)

Yesterday was the start of the Mens & Womens Trap Event, with the men shooting 50 targets and the women 75 targets & then their final.

Over the weekend Australia Cup 2 was held at SISC in Sydney. The scores were good and there were some oustanding results. Attached is the file of the results.

Attached are the results from Australia Cup 1 that was held at SISC in Sydney in February. Enjoy

Congratulations to Des Coe on winning the HOA High Gun with a score of 248 (7 points down) 5 points clear of Dave Da Silva. With the weather deteriorating, Des held his composure to shoot just 1 point down in each event on Sunday to secure his win.

Also Congratulations to all the other winners on their excellent results.

Skeet HOA - Guy Brooks

Mini's HOA - Jim Tarrant

Double Rise HOA - Gavin Searle

Single Rise HOA - John Waldon

Triples HOA - Brendon Malcolm

Pointscore HOA - Natalie Curtis

Single Barrel HOA - Colin Kennedy

Also congratulations to Ian Hovenden & his team at Waitemata for the great presentation of the grounds and for an excellent run shoot, especially considering the poor weather conditions.

Ball Trap - the first event of the NI DTL Championships was held today at Waitemata CTC, that being the 50tgt Ball Trap. The conditions for shooting were almost perfect with good light & no wind. The target setting was superb with targets going the correct distance and all being withing height and angle, allowing the shooters to shoot to their potential

The early pace was set by Mark Vessey, in squad one, who shot a very solid 49. He was joined on this score by Des Coe, Brant Woodward & John Waldon.

Not to be out done, Dave Wordley & Gavin Searle both posted excellent 50's to shoot off for HOA & 1st A Grade. At the completion of the shoot off Gavin Searle took top honours, with Dave taking 1st A Grade.

In the shootoff for 2 & 3rd A Grade, Brant Woodward won from John Waldon.
