Therapists can provide assessment and specific treatment programmes for individual difficulties. Speech Therapy is used successfully to treat and manage voice disorders.
Do you have a rough, strained, hoarse or husky voice?
Are you conscious about the sound of your voice?
Do you have vocal nodules?
Have you been diagnosed with a voice disorder?
If you answered 'YES' to any of these questions you are quite possibly suffering from stress to the vocal mechanism and the vocal cords. This is generally referred to as "vocal abuse". There are many causes of vocal abuse including excessive talking, singing, coughing, throat-clearing, shouting and screaming. Voice coaching programmes use both education and exercises to change harmful vocal behaviours and give you a better voice.
