Stretching east along the seaward edge of Dunedin’s harbour is the Otago Peninsula. Year round this is the home of some of the world’s rarest wildlife, which can be seen in its natural habitat.
Above the harbour entrance at the end of a beautiful drive is Taiaroa Head, the only mainland breeding colony of the royal albatross in the world.
Nearby you can get up close with the worlds rarest penguin, the yellow eye. On the secluded beaches there are also sea lions and their pups, fur seals, and blue penguins.
