Scanning and photography » MCK Design & Print

By: McK Design & Print  06-Dec-2011

To get the best possible printing you need to get the best possible input (“rubbish in, rubbish out”). Scanning a photograph or print is only half the story. You need to colour correct for the final printing process, sharpening or defocusing the shot (depending on whether you are scanning already printed material) and convert to the correct colour mode for its final use. Wolfgang, our colour specialist, has many years of experience doing just such things. He spent many years operating a drum scanner under Hughes Lithographics and so knows how to extract the best results from a scan.

Wolfgang also handles our photography, including product photography and artwork photography. Again, the skill isn’t so much in the technology you use but in getting the best out of the camera and lenses.

Self publishing » MCK Design & Print

Self publishing a book makes sense for several reasons, including where the audience is small, where the subject is highly specialized or where you want to “dip your toes in the water” to see how a book will go. We can give you an estimate of pricing to allow you to work out a budget in the beginning, and provide a firm quote when you have a good idea about the book length and quantities, etc.

Technical & Mathematical Typesetting » MCK Design & Print

This technical knowledge, combined with a peerless understanding of fonts, prepress and the printing industry, means that no job is too complicated or too difficult. It is not enough to make a document look good—the information needs to be presented in a logical way that makes finding and understanding the information easy. Typesetting maths and technical documents is a specialist area.
