Day 1: ARRIVE IN HANOI
Arrive in Hanoi, transfer to the hotel. Hanoi, Vietnam's capital, a stylish and gracious city that retains an unique old world charm and some of Asia's most striking colonial architecture, many peaceful lakes, parks and oriental temples making for a relaxing atmosphere. Take a short sightseeing tour by cyclo through the bustling old quarter streets. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 2: HANOI (B)
Today we enjoy a full day city tour including the mausoleum of the nation's founder Ho Chi Minh (close on Monday & Friday), the Presidential Palace, Ho Chi Minh's house on stilts, the One Pillar Pagoda, West Lake, Tran Vu Pagoda, Lake of the Restored Sword, Ngoc Son Temple and Temple of Literature. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 3: HANOI - HA LONG (B, L, D)
Overland to Ha Long Bay which is two times awarded the World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO World Heritage Committee in 1994 and 2000. Upon arrival, we board a traditional wooden junk to discover the breathtaking Ha Long Bay, Vietnam most wonderful scenic sight; take a fantastic view of the picturesque scenery, skylined with over 3,000 limestone islets rising amazingly from the clear and emerald water, with hundreds of peerless karst formations and beautiful grottoes and caves. Along the way we will anchor for a leisure swim in a secluded cove or climb on a hill for a spectacular overview of the Bay. Overnight on board.
Day 4: HA LONG - HANOI – DANANG - HOIAN (B, L)
Morning continue our cruise exploring the natural beauty of the World Heritage. Afternoon return to Hanoi. Transfer to the airport for flight to Danang, then transfer to Hoi An. Upon arrival, check in hotel and free. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 5: HOIAN – COOKING CLASS - CITY TOUR (B, L)
Morning visit Hoi An’s colourful market, and experience the amazing sights, sounds and aromas of this busy market. We will have the opportunity to interact with the local sellers and learn about all the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson. The cooking lesson runs for about 2 hours – the Red Bridge chefs first demonstrate each dish before we prepare the same dish ourselves. Included in the class is a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carving (plate decoration). After the lesson, we sit down and eat what we have cooked. Afternoon we visit this ancient town: the 200 year-old Tan Ky house, Phuc Kien Pagoda, the Assembly Hall, the former merchants’ houses, the 400 year-old Japanese Covered Bridge. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 6: HOI AN – HUE (B)
Morning we drive to Hue, the last imperial capital of Vietnam. Upon arrival to Hue, check in hotel. Afternoon we visit the Imperial Citadel, the Purple Forbidden City, the bustling Dong Ba market. Overnight in Hue.
Day 7: HUE (B)
Enjoy a morning cruise on the romantic Perfume River to visit Hue’s oldest and most revered site Thien Mu Pagoda, then the Mausoleum of Emperor Minh Mang. In the afternoon, visit the Mausoleum of Emperor Tu Duc and Mausoleum Khai Dinh. Overnight in Hue.
Day 8: HUE - HO CHI MINH – CU CHI (B)
Morning fly to Ho Chi Minh city, the biggest industrial and commercial city of Vietnam. Then we visit to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels (60 km), visit the incredible underground tunnel network of over 200 kilometers hand-constructed by Vietnam Communist guerrillas, virtually underneath the U.S. bases, to stage surprise attacks. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.
Day 9: HO CHI MINH – VINH LONG (B).
Travel by road into the Mekong Delta (125 km), stopping in the town of Cai Be,well-known for its floating market. We will board a private sampan for a cruise along the maze of waterways and canals to Vinh Long. We then see local daily activities, visit a bonsai garden or fruits garden, boat building workshop, coconut candy and girdle cake shop. Return to Ho Chi Minh City in late afternoon. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh
Day 10: HO CHI MINH (B).
A full day city tour of the dynamic Ho Chi Minh (formerly called Saigon) including Chinatown, Thien Hau pagoda, Binh Tay market, Notre-Dame Cathedral, Old Saigon Post Office, Reunification Palace, War Crime Museum and Vinh Nghiem Pagoda. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.
Day 11: HO CHI MINH – DEPARTURE (B)
Free at leisure until transfer to Tan Son Nhati airport for departure flight.
