We provide incontinence swimwear so that people can swim at their local swimming pool. Most public swimming pools in new zealand have stated that if a swimmer wears incontinence wear then they need to also wear incontinence swimwear.
We make gift baskets to order, these and the swimwear are advertised on trademe. A fundraiser that we have at the library is growing vegetable and herb seedlings, these are a lot cheaper than the shops and are very good plants. The ASDAN programme is a NZQA recognised programme for the disabled. The programme can be started at the age of 7 or 8 and carry on through until late adult hood. The oldest person doing the programme with us is 75. A mobile delivery service happens on a monthly basis - we travel from Wellsford to past Kaitaia each calendar month. This is proving very popular with the small schools and also families who are unable to access our service by coming into the office. With a grant from the Paul Newman Foundation we were able to install a multisensory room, this is a wonderful resource and is designed for the disabled community, people who have suffered strokes, rehabilitation, brain injury, dementia patients. The sessions are 20 minutes long - this is a time that has been set by medical professionals as being the best time duration there is for this therapy.
