2011 Manawatu Champs, 13 November

The Palmerston North School of Karate Do hosted one of it largest local events in the Manawatu and attracted over 118 competitors covering over 30 events.  This year Dave Nuku and Kieran Nuku competed in the Kata division with Dave taking 3rd for Senior Mens Premier Open and Kieran taking second for the 13 - 17 year Male Premier. Kieran had the most differcult rounds being the only competitor requiring to perform 4 kata's to be in the finals.

Clubs from all around the region entered and provided some very exciting moments. The Foxton club entered a number of students for Kumite with many displaying a sprinkling of good old fashion dojo sparring. The mens kumite final was especially exciting with Barney Gill against his older brother Hogan Gill. Close fight but in the end, Barney clinched the title. Dave Nuku

Shitokai New Zealand - 2012 French National Champs

Alicia has been homestaying in Whangarei since early January, with Sensei Bob and his Wife, practicing Karate, training five days a week and attending honbu dojo.The intense training has seen her Karate improve considerably, and in Paris Alicia came third in a huge field of over sixty competitors.


Shitokai New Zealand - 2011 Dan Grading

The new 2nd Kyu gradees know they have a big step up next year to acheive 1st Kyu themselves, and the new 1st Kyu gradees who watched the Dan gradings also know the big improvement they will need in 2012 to acheive Shodan at the end of the year. Traditionally, the December gradings are where the Dan grade hopefuls go through the ropes, and this year was no exception, with Zara Wech, Kieran Nuku and Nicky Roberts attempting their gradings.


Shitokai New Zealand - 2011 Northland Sports Awards

Nicky continues the success Karatedo Shitokai has enjoyed in the past, as in 2002, Travis Butler, a then student of Bob's, won the same awards, except he won Sportsman of the year. Finally, she received the premier Female award, Northland Sportswoman of the Year, which recognises her as the premier Female athlete of any code in Northland.
