Healthy Homes Tai Tokerau only uses polyester insulation as we believe it is a much safer insulation product to use, we carry a comprehensive range of polyester insulation solutions and services to offer you and your family.
Because the polyester comes in a roll, it is easy and very fast to install.
It is simply laid over ceiling framing, or fastened on to wall framing.
To fit a specific area, our polyester insulation can simply be torn – scissors and knives are not needed. The polyester insulation causes no itching or skin irritation.
Our polyester underfloor insulation is a high-density semi-rigid polyester insulation for use underfloor.
Our Polyester underfloor insulation is fully recyclable. It incorporates a blend of technical fibres for thermal performance and a high percentage of recycled fibres for sustainability.
The high density polyester underfloor is friction fitted between floor joists and requires no stapling.
NOVAtherm is made of polyester, the material that is used in most pillows.
Our insulation is a unique mix of premium polyester, including hollow conjugate fiber – technology from high-quality sleeping bags and extreme clothing.
This delivers outstanding insulation in ceilings and walls.
Polyester, the ‘friendly fibre’ insulation material
A high percentage of the polyester fibre is made from recycled PET plastic bottles i.e milk and coke bottles and are themselves fully recyclable at the end of their lives. The polyester insulation we use is bonded using heat instead of traditional chemical binders, so therefore has no glues, no chemicals, no formaldehyde and is naturally resistant to fire, moisture, vermin, insects, mould and bacteria eliminating the need for any chemical additives.
Healthy and Safe
There are NO glues used in making any our polyester insulation products. Glues are known to break down over time, releasing a chemical called formaldehyde, which causes health concerns.
Polyester has no negative effect on health. Heat-bonded polyester does not release fibres into the air. This is one reason why NOVAtherm is used in many hospitals and buildings with air-conditioning systems. NOVAtherm is fire-resistant. It self extinguishes and will not carry flame.
Eco-friendly manufacture and recycling practices
A high percentage of the polyester insulation products is made from recycled PET plastic, including plastic bottles and bags. The polyester insulation products are themselves fully recyclable at the end of their lives and are manufactured using a low-energy production process, putting them among the most environmentally-friendly insulation solutions on the market.
Made to last
The polyester insulation products we use are exceptionally durable. For total assurance and piece of mind, it carries a 50-year performance guarantee even in harsh environmental conditions, as long as the insulation was installed correctly, and remains adequately protected.
A typical household of four people spends around $2,800 a year on energy, not including transport ~ Statistics New Zealand, Household Economic Survey: Year ended 30 June 2007. Up to 40% of this energy is used to heat up or cool down your house. Insulating can cut the cost of this heating and cooling by up to 40 % depending on such factors as climate, type and size of home. Even if you insulate just your ceiling you can save 20-30% on heating and cooling bills. This is because heating and air conditioning units don’t have to run as hard or as long to achieve the desired temperature in the building.
Based on the figures above, achieving a 40% reduction in heating/ cooling costs equates to $448 in energy savings per annum.
