School Holiday Programme

The Newtown Community and Cultural Centre runs a school holiday programme for primary school aged children (school years 1 to 6) based at the Newtown Hall on Daniell St. The community centre prioritises enrolments for those children from families who hold Community Services Cards and who live or work in Newtown.

The programme costs $10 per day per child, with trip days costing $20. There is a subsidised rate for commuity card holders of $5 per day, and $10 for trip days.

Call the community centre a few weeks before each term break to enquire about the next school holiday programme.

Youth Programme

“It takes a village to raise a child” African Proverb

We all need role models, connections in our community and the support of people who care. It's hard growing up! The more older people around the better. Someone once said we need six important adults in our lives growing up (not including parents!).  Newtown Mentors is a new project for the Youth Programme (started Feb 2011) where we  connect up young people (8-15yrs) with slightly wiser, enthusiastic, committed volunteers (16-100yrs) in Newtown. We are taking referrals from health clinics, schools, or just from people we know who are keen to be hooked up! Training and group supervision is provided for Mentors.
