St.Arnaud is a small sub-alpine village. It is located on State Highway 63, just over an hours drive from Blenheim on the way to the West Coast and about the same distance south of Nelson city. Our homestay is 9kms east St Arnaud on the saddle of Wairau Pass (Wairau Valley Highway). Look for us at the top of the hill as you drive out of the Wairau Valley, (Marlborough) or on the corner of Tophouse Road and State Highway 63 - .
Complimentary tea, coffee and home baking is available upstairs at all times.
Dining room and spacious lounge facilities are shared with your host. An eclectic range of reading material ensures that restful pursuits are catered for - a sunny deck provides space to relax or to chill out in the summer heat with summer breezes.
You are welcome to use laundry and drying room facilities.
A bountiful breakfast is provided as part of your overnight stay, with other meals and special diets by arrangement. We endeavour to use home and organically grown foods wherever possible. Evening meals, with a complimentary local wine, and picnic packs can be provided at extra cost - just ask!
The Nelson Lakes National Park and surrounding areas are renown for their tramping opportunities. From pleasant walks of

The fishing is world famous. We can point you in the right direction if you want to "do your own thing" and chase the local brown trout or travel to Rotoroa to try for a rainbow. If, however, you want some assistance we can make the necessary arrangements with one of our experienced local guides who will endeavour to put you on to that beauty. Please make sure you don't spread 'rock snot' Didymo!
Wairau Pass Homestay / B&B is the closest accommodation to the Rainbow ski field. Stay with us for a really wonderful skiing and snow boarding holiday. Travel by shuttle bus to the ski field, enjoy a day's skiing then return to the homestay for a hot shower, a welcome drink and a pleasant evening meal while your clothes dry in our drying room ready for the next day of action. Wholesome packed lunches also available for those venturing onto the field.Ice skating is available at the pond near St Arnaud with ice skates hired from the local shop.
There are many mountain biking opportunities within a short distance of the homestay. These range from easy family grade tracks to extreme off-road experiences. Take a leisurely ride around the Speargrass Flats or try the famous Rainbow ride. We would recommend the breathtaking views from Beeby's Knob, right at the homestay's back door or Red Hills.

Though the water can be chilly at times, there are numerous opportunities to indulge in the water sport of your choice on either of the two lakes or on the mighty Buller river. Be it yachting, kayaking, waterskiing or swimming, there are great areas for all to enjoy. The spectacular scenery of the area adds to the enjoyment.
The Nelson Lakes area supports moderate populations of red deer, chamois, wild pig and goats.
The Nelson Gliding Club Inc. operates from the Lake Station Airstrip most weekends in summer.
