Under the Kyoto Protocol, New Zealand agreed to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions back to 1990 levels by 2012 or pay for any excess. This has lead to the implementation of the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme and this historical data is now becoming more and more useful as clients seek to map their pre 1990 position for comparison to the current day for carbon credit evaluation.
