Due to many requests from customers wanting to purchase Paraffin wax we now have both Paraffin Container Wax and Paraffin Pillar Wax available.

What is Paraffin Wax

Paraffin Wax is a by-product of refining crude oil into various energy products. It is mostly a white, odorless waxy solid and is still the most widely used wax for candle making in the world.

Main types of Paraffin Wax

The 2 main types of paraffin wax are used for container candles and for pillar candles. Paraffin container wax is designed to be poured into a glass jar or vessel with a wick and burnt in the vessel. Paraffin pillar wax is generally a harder wax so it can be used for freestanding pillar candles and is designed to shrink to be released from a mould.

Paraffin Wax Uses

Some of the main reasons Paraffin waxes are still so popular compared to natural vegetable waxes is based on an individual manufacturers requirements. Some advantages of Paraffin Wax are:

- Generally stronger scent throw and release using Paraffin Wax

- Potentially better container adhesion in glass container candles

- Ability to make white, smooth pillar candles for decoration including decals

- Potential for self consuming pillars not possible with natural vegetable waxes
