MEBA Team.

Dear Pupils, Parents and Friends,

Welcome to the 2012 year of dance at MEBA. We look forward to seeing you all, and hope you have had a pleasant and enjoyable holiday. Classes will resume as usual (please see attached timetable) on the 7th of February.

Enrolment Days - We will be having two enrolment days at our Manukau Rd studios.

Tuesday 31st of January - 3.30pm to 6.30pm

Pre School, Pre Primary, Primary, Grade 1, Intermediate Foundation to Solo Seal

Thursday 2nd of February - 3.30pm to 6.30pm

Grade 2, 3, 4 & 5 plus all Jazz, Contemporary and Tap classes

Ballerina Babies is a new class for MEBA. This class offers mothers and children under 3 years of age an introduction to dance, through music, movement and creativity.

Pre School & Pre Primary classes are a fun and creative introduction to dance.

These will now be split into age appropriate classes. Please see timetable for class/age times.

Grade Students are expected to attend 2 classes per week. However, they may attend a third class at no extra charge.

Vocational exam students are advised to attend 3 syllabus classes plus pointe class weekly. Attendance at open class is also strongly advised.

Theatre/Open class. Students wishing to enter major exams are strongly encouraged to attend these classes to gain confidence with enchainment. Open class is available for Grade 3 onwards.

Grade 6,7 & 8 will continue this year however Grade 8 will not start until Term 2.

Contemporary, Jazz & Tap classes are recommended to increase the student’s versatility. Classical companies world wide include contemporary dance in their repertoire while Jazz is a dynamic dance form providing many performance opportunities. Tap classes are great fun and help with rhythm and musicality.

Pilates incorporates muscle balance, stretching and strengthening techniques. This class is suitable for students from Grade 3 onwards. Please bring a stretch band and exercise mat.

Adult Ballet will continue this year and is fantastic for those who want to explore their love of dance.

Viewing Classes - Whilst we always encourage parents/caregivers to watch classes, out of consideration to the students and teachers, noise levels must be kept to an absolute minimum. Siblings need to be kept still and quiet. Due to studio size, we regret we must ask parents not to watch classes in the Isadora studio.

Established private lessons are a commitment and should be attended regularly. If these are cancelled without a replacement student the lesson must be paid for unless other arrangements have been made.

If your child wishes to achieve their maximum potential it is important that practice is part of their regular routine, outside of the studio.

Please note, unless discussed with MEBA first, students may not attend classes or dance programmes at other dance schools.

Important Dates for 2012

Term one will begin on the 7th of February and finish on the 5th of April

Term two will begin on the 23rd of April.

Concert Dates are 16th, 17th & 18th November. Please keep this week and the weekend of the 10th and 11th free for rehearsal.

Let us make 2012 a happy and exciting MEBA year for everyone.
