IVS works with treatment providers facilitating approval of treatments and the timely release of goods through border security.

The IVS team are specialists in biosecurity treatment and assist treatment providers with supervision services or gaining approval to operate under the MAF-approved treatment supplier programme. Services include:

Treatment Supplier Programme for Importers and Exporters

MAF Biosecurity NZ is responsible for ensuring imported risk goods are treated to eliminate unwanted pests or diseases protecting New Zealanders and our natural environment. Biosecurity treatment may also be required for exported goods and is applied according to the importing country’s phytosanitary requirements.

There are two models of delivery for biosecurity treatment to be provided by approved operators.

    The approved treatment supplier programme is a system designed by MAF Biosecurity NZ to make sure competent organisations and individual operators have the necessary skills and experience to be responsible for delivery of official biosecurity treatment activities.

    Treatment of New Zealand IMPORTED risk goods 

     Treatment of New Zealand EXPORTED plants and plant based products

IVS offers MAF Biosecurity training for New Zealand Importers

New Zealand importers must operate a MAF-approved Transitional Facility to receive, inspect and unpack imported sea containers under the General Transitional Facilities Standard. All Transitional Facilities must have trained and certified personnel who manage or undertake the different aspects of biosecurity. Personnel who wish to become a TFO, Deputy TFO or AP must be trained by a MAF approved training provider such us IVS.

In January 2010 the AANZFTA came into effect, it's aim to liberalise and facilitate trade in goods, services and investment between New Zealand, Australia and the ASEAN economies. IVS have developed a web-based system to simplify the processes and make it easy to navigate the technicalities of our free trade agreements. Goods that arrive in China with a certificate of origin, will be processed within 48 hours by Chinese customs.

A phytosanitary certificate is an official government document that gives government-to-government assurance the correct procedures and processes have been undertaken, to provide certainty consignments are free of contaminants, have been inspected and are verified by an independent verification agency such as IVS.

IVS Inspectors provide onsite end point inspections and Post Inspection Product Security checks, reducing down time, guarantying compliance with the importing countries requirements and offering efficient boarder clearance. The export inspection of logs, timber or horticultural products is undertaken by registered inspectors in the log/timber yard or on the wharf prior to loading.
