Things on the farm can be stressful at the best of times, which is why you need a reliable electrician that not only has the experience in dairy shed fit outs but the manpower. You need to have the right team for dairy shed wiring for it's too big a job for a one man band and Dave's team of 6 men, complete the electrical wiring in stages according to the builder. "We have a close relationship to the builder and keep in touch with each stage of the project. That way there is minimum downtime and things run smoothly. Communication is always key for us" says Dave.
A common misconception with this type of work is getting the power from the road.
People don't realise that we can take the power from the power pole, to the switchboard and throughout the building. In fact, we'll do everything to do with electrical work and pumps on the farm.
Isaac's Electrical have been involved with numerous dairy shed projects throughout the district. Big Dairy conversions are no problem.
Excerpt from New Farm Dairies publication (Spring 2009)
Electrical work for the Kanui Farms project was contracted to Isaac's Electrical from Waipawa. Dave Isaac explained to me that they started at the transformer and worked their way back to the shed. Dave and his team wired up the entire shed, plant, refrigeration system, feed silos and switchboards. Isaac's Electrical built the entire switchboard back at their workshop and then all they had to do was bring it out to the farm and wire it up.
The shed was wired up progressively, with cable being put in place under the concrete as it was poured. "This way nothing is exposed" says Dave
All the cabling is enclosed and sealed in pipes before being installed under the concrete.
"We are rung and told that we are doing a certain part of the concrete on a particular day and we just turn up and do our bit" says Dave.
All the wiring in the plant room was done by Isaac's Electrical, as was the wiring to all pumps, the water canons in the yard and the wash down pumps.
