The Otago Peninsula is known as one of the best places in the New Zealand to walk, bike, kayak or drive. There are many interesting walks, rugged beaches and wildlife. The Lonely Planet states it is a “near compulsory excursion unless you hate animals” (Lonely Planet Online 2009).
The peninsula is certainly a haven for a number of rare and endangered species of wildlife including seals, sea-lions, penguins and albatross. Few places on earth have such diversity and abundance of marine life. The network of roads and tracks on the Peninsula as well as the wildlife reserves that have been set up out there allows us to explore it all up close.
Iconic Tours can organise sightseeing trips on the Otago Peninsula to suit your interests and time frame. We can take you to any of the wildlife attractions on the Peninsula. Our tours are informative, flexible and available any time of the day all year round.
Use Iconic Tours as your Peninsula Connection for self-guided cycling tours. We’ll provide the transport for you and your bikes plus all the information you require. ICONIC TOURS connects to key wildlife attractions such as the Royal Albatross Colony, Natures Wonders and Penguin Place Conservation Reserve.

Iconic Otago Peninsula Wildlife
Penguin Place Tour
Of all the penguins in the world, the Yellow Eyed Penguin has an appearance and character that sets it apart from other penguin species. These penguins are found only along the Southern coastlines of New Zealand’s South Island, Stewart Island and our Sub Antarctic Islands.
The Yellow Eyed Penguin is a rare and endangered bird. Penguin Place is a conservation reserve set up to help protect these penguins from predators and to give them a better chance at survival. The reserve has specially designed viewing huts and hides built to minimise human impact on the penguins and their natural environment.
Iconic Tours are proud to offer this exceptional wildlife viewing opportunity. Experience at close range these beautiful and rare penguins as part of our Otago Peninsula tour options.
