Our Citylights Evening Tour will put a little spark into a romantic evening and provide comfort and convenience with our executive chauffeured dinner transfer service.

The Iconic Citylights Tour includes the following highlights:

  • Evening pickup and drop off to and from your Dunedin City accommodation or address.
  • Brief inform-a-tour of the Octagon, Dunedin’s City Centre. Visit the statue of Robbie Burns and have your photo taken under the lights of the grand Town Hall. Get up to date on Dunedin's great night life; live theatre, popular nightclubs and must visit pubs.
  • Drive along to Signal Hill Lookout at Sunset for a spectacular view of the city at night.
  • Visit a Glow worm viewing area that will take your breath away (easy access provided).
  • Late return transfer to your Dunedin City accommodation or address available if required (time limit will apply).

The Iconic Full-Day City Sights Tour is an extensive and informative journey which can include any or all of the following 'General Sightseeing Activities' in the standard tour rate. In addition to these activities, choose any of the "Add-on Attractions" listed further below in more detail.

General Sightseeing Activities

  • A heritage tour around the stunning architecture of Dunedin’s historic Exchange Precinct
  • Dunedin’s iconic Railway Station and introduction to the Taieri Gorge Railway
  • A scenic drive along Queens Drive to view Dunedin’s early mansions
  • Visit the University of Otago’s historic clock tower building and tour through the campus area
  • Visit Baldwin Street, walk or drive the street, includes a complimentary certificate for all tour participants to confirm your World's Steepest Street achievement!
  • Signal Hill lookout for an amazing view of Dunedin City and Harbour
  • A guided tour of Dunedin’s Botanical Gardens including the tropical conservatories, herb and rock gardens and rhododendron dell

Optional Add-on Attractions

Add on 1. Olveston

Olveston historic homestead offers a tour through a grand stately home which has been gifted to the city by its former (now deceased owners, the Theomin family). View an incredible collection of art and ornaments acquired from the four corners of the globe by the family on their travels during the early 20th Century. The Olveston tour is an exceptional guided tour experience through a piece of living heritage.

Add on 2. Chinese Gardens

An authentic Chinese Garden, one of only 3 that exist outside of China. Built in conjunction with Dunedin’s sister city of Shanghai, the materials for construction have all originated from China and were shipped to Dunedin's port and built by traditional Chinese garden craftsmen. The place has a special sense of serenity, a surprisingly calming atmosphere within the urban environment, and the traditional Chinese architecture blends in remarkably well amongst Dunedin’s surrounding city scape.

Add on 3. Speights Brewery

Dunedin’s grand old brewery built in 1876. Operating in much the same fashion as in the days of old. Tour through the entire factory from top to bottom sampling beer ingredients along the way. Experience a variety of ales during the tasting session at the end of the tour. Speights also offer a Lunch Package Special provided by the Alehouse Restaurant located inside the brewery. Price for the 2 course lunch and tour is $51 per person.

Add on 4. Cadbury Chocolate Factory

Take a fun filled and fascinating guided tour around the Cadbury Dunedin chocolate factory and sample Cadbury products along the way!

After the tour, browse through the Cadbury World Store where you can choose from a wide range of special products including chocolates, clothing, hats, bags, toys, novelty items and many other souvenirs.
Cadbury World tours are available 7 days a week. Tours generally run from 9am to 3.15pm with extended hours over the summer season and school holidays. Cadbury World is closed 25, 26 Dec and 1, 2 Jan.

Add on 5. Iconic Orokonui Ecosanctuary Tour

See “fascinating and rare” native birdlife and discover conservation in action at Dunedin’s new tourist attraction the Orokonui Ecosanctuary. This state-of-the-art wildlife centre opened in October of 2009. A joint venture between the people of Waitati and the NZ Natural History Trust it has produced an innovative information centre and café constructed from eco-friendly and recycled materials. Landscaped walking tracks wander through a 300 hectare native forest reserve with viewing platforms and feeding areas, all housed within a 3 metre high predator proof fence costing $5 Million to build. Tour price includes transport, entry fee and guided tour of the sanctuary.

Add on 6. Iconic Larnach Castle Tour

Iconic Tours offer a unique Larnach Castle tour by combining our CITY SIGHTS Tour with a LARNACH CASTLE Add-on. Experience breath-taking views along the Otago Peninsula high road with photo stops on-route to the Castle. Enjoy a tea or coffee in the garden or at the Ballroom Café on site. Our guide will escort you throughout the entire castle, from the Gun room below to the views from the turret and all the marvels in between. Enjoy our personal attention to detail as we show you William Larnach’s world and tell of his amazing life story.
