"… we would like to take this opportunity to thank you immensely for all your help and advice since we first met. We had no real idea of what we were doing in regard to the formalities or the ceremony in general until you came along and helped us find our way.
… On such an important day, you were a true star - thank you
The day wouldn't have been the same without you." M&T (July 2006)
I am an experienced funeral celebrant. Whilst most of my work comes through funeral directors, I am happy to be approached directly. I have been privileged to work with several people to pre-plan their funerals. Difficult as this may be, by talking about your ideas, your family can be sure that your farewell is everything you wish it to be.
"… I wish to thank you so much for all your care and attention before, during and after my fathers funeral. You were all I could have wanted in your sympathy and empathy. …everything was so lovely and I know he would have been pleased as punch at his send off". PA (February 2007).
Child Thanksgiving and Baby Naming Ceremonies
Parents often like to name their children and acknowledge their importance in the family without a formal Christening. A child thanksgiving or naming ceremony is the ideal way to do this. The ceremony can be simple or intricate, and provides the opportunity not only to name your baby/child, but also to express your joy in your child, to welcome him/her into the family, and to express your hopes for his/her future.
"… Thank you so much for our naming ceremony. It was a fantastic way to give thanks for our son, affirm his identity and welcome him into our family. You delivered it with style and grace and everyone commented on what a special day it was." M&C April 2007.
Thinking about eloping to New Zealand for an intimate wedding or civil union? This may be an option if you are looking for a fuss free, yet meaningful ceremony. Again, you can go to the Births, Deaths and Marriages Website for information about the legal aspects of marrying in New Zealand. I can advise on venues and am able to provide witnesses (at a small cost) should you plan not to have guests at your ceremony.
"… Helen was extremely flexible in our elopement wedding ceremony. She helped us put together some unique wedding vows. She was instrumental to a spectacular wedding." J&M April 2006.
My fee for celebrancy work is $400 for weddings and civil unions and $350 for other ceremonies. There is an additional fee to cover travel cost for ceremonies north of the Harbour Bridge, in West Auckland or further afield.
