I woke up this morning craving yesterday's assortment of delectable dishes I had the fortune to sample at DELICIOSA - TAPAS and WINE BAR. Sarah Watson is the young and brilliant proprietor of the BEST Tapas and Wine Bar In Havelock North (Hastings) if not all of Hawke's Bay.Her creative tapas menu meticulously prepared and perfected with local ingredients and complimented by the best local wines of the region made this an unforgettable Kiwi experience. Some of the original and unique dishes include: Squid salt and peppered with orange parsely sprinle, aioli and lemons- phenominal
Trio of fresh tuna...my favoiriteof the trio was the carpaccio with Tahitian sesame dressing
Crispy pork belly with pomegranite juice, fresh fennel and apple salad. ( I dislike fatty meats but this was almost all meat and the little fat there was , was crispy)- AmazingLebanese seven spice beef...I want the recipe
Duck liver pate with Damson jelly ( Damson jelly is a great accompaniment to cheeses as well and I will be hoarding jars of it back home) Unfortunately they do not export to the States but do to Australia. The decor is tasteful, rustic and casual
The service was excellent.

Absolutely delicious! Pork belly and seven spiced beef would be my fav. Having just returned from Holiday in wellington and comparing with another tapas bar there.. deliciosa blows them out of the water. Order a couple of dishes to start and keep ordering to satisfy that urge to want to eat more of these wonderful dishes.

After phoning 5 of our favourite restaurants to be told they were fully booked, and after a long search on the net we found DELICIOSA . We had pre warned the restaurant that one of our party required total dairy free dishes. When we arrived we were given a menu that had all of the dairy free dishes highlighted. We proceded to order. Over the course of the meal we ordered 4 times, a total of 14 dishes. Our evening just flowed, food was brought in no time, the staff were great, best of all each plate of tapas was like receiving a wee gift, beautifully presented not to mention deliciosa. We sampled duck and blueberry, ostrich, porkbelly, beef, lamb. dips and the list goes on ..
finishing with dessert.
deliciosa goes on holiday 2012
we will be closed from sunday 8th july

2010 End of Vintage Party
another successful and fun party was held here on sunday night to celebrate the end of the 2010 Harvest. We were delighted to see all our mates from wineries from all accross Hawkes Bay - Peter Gough from Ngatarawa took out the Salsa dancing comp, John Kemble amazed us all with his new 'ink', John Hancock, Warren Gibson and Lorraine Leheny supplied us with some stunning drops, Te Awa sent a beautiful Italien to represent, Rod McDonald dropped in to sample some of the Grand Cru's once they had been opened.. all in all a lovely evening of empanadas, paella, and exceptional wines.. just how we like it!
Thanks to everybody for coming out and supporting us throughout the vintage - it has been a real treat to see you all so often. Wino Wednesdays were such a success we will be sure to run them again next year. To all you international cellar rats; be sure to keep in touch with your adventures, and see you next year!
