Large development projects are usually complex and, before granting consent, Council planning departments are requesting more detailed information than ever before about the impact of a proposal on the environment, Council's infrastructure and the local community.

A team of consultants is often required with each consultant having specific tasks to complete. The specialists will often involve surveyors, planners, solicitors, traffic engineers, civil engineers, landscape architects, archaeologists, soils engineers, geotechnical engineers and architects.

One of the most crucial tasks is to coordinate the various consultants and ensure there are clear roles and common objectives. There should be no overlaps and, should the project focus change, everyone needs to be aware of the impact on their role. One poor decision or miscommunication can cost the client dearly in both time and money.
