To help make the most of your experience at Hamilton Zoo we suggest

Rhinos and savannah animals (e.g. giraffes) have to be taken to and from their night enclosures every morning and evening - so to avoid missing out on seeing these animals on display.

  • If you enter the zoo before 10am, go to the left through the rainforest first.
  • If you enter the zoo after 3pm, go to the right to the rhinos and savannah first.

During wet weather the giraffes may be viewed at their night enclosure at the bottom of the wetlands area.

Please listen out for announcements, check with reception or ask a zoo host to help find the animal you are looking for.

Kune Kune piglets for sale

As pigs are social animals they need to go to homes where they will have some company of some sort, preferably another pig but a goat or other farm animal is also suitable. The piglets also spend a lot of time sleeping, often out in the sun for hours, so we have to apply sunscreen to their delicate ears to ensure they don’t get burnt. They starting to investigate solid food but still rely on Anna for milk, drinking from her many times a day.
