Building Blocks for ROADMs
Finisar's Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) products are based on Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) technology and comprise the Dynamic Wavelength Processor (DWP) and Edge Wavelength Processor (EWP) platforms. The DWP and EWP are high functionality modules for wavelength management in DWDM telecommunications networks. These products provide wavelength selective switch capabilities operating on 50 and 100GHz ITU grids and FlexgridTM channel plans for 10G, 40G, 100G and future high-speed applications. The modules advanced functionalities include drop and continue, custom mechanical, electrical and/or software interfaces plus in-service upgrade capability.
The DWP provides capability for up to 20 switching ports, while the EWP offers 2 switching ports in a small form factor for low cost network edge applications.
Finisar takes advantage of its diverse component and manufacturing capabilities and utilizes the unique features of the DWP and EWP to create custom WSS modules and ROADM circuit pack assemblies.

Future Proof Your Network
Finisar's Flexgrid™ technology provides dynamic control of channel center frequency and bandwidth at 12.5GHz resolution within a Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS), the key element in a Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexer (ROADM). Once deployed, channel plans are configurable 'on-the-fly' meaning that channel bandwidths can be tuned to most efficiently carry future demand when it arises.
Flexgrid™ is available now on the Finisar Dynamic Wavelength Processor (DWP) product lines and will soon be available on the Edge Wavelength Processor (EWP) WSS products.
