Originally from England, Craig has been living in NZ for over 12 years. He has been involved in sport for recreation with the odd social competition since he was 7. He enjoys mountain biking, cycling, running, strength training, surfing, sea kayaking, snowboarding, climbing and tramping.

Craig is always open to new experiences and enjoys the rich tapestry of life. He has walked the Inca trail, performed at the Royal Albert Hall, eaten pizza in Verona, enjoyed an opera premiere in Prague, surfed in Bali, climbed in Thailand, sailed in the Bay of Islands and tangoed in Argentina.

Craig is passionate about health and fitness and has been working and training in the industry since July 2009. Craig started his fitness career at The Millennium Institute of Sport as a gym instructor, shortly afterwards he moved to a boutique studio working as a fitness supervisor, personal trainer, and group exercise instructor for spinning, power plate and boxing. In 2011 Craig wanted to experience operating out of a larger facility and moved to CityFitness as a Personal trainer. Craig is currently an Assistant Manager and Personal training out of Jetts Auckland CBD as well as coaching spinning and running. Craig’s goal is to help you become fit, healthy, strong, and feel fantastic faster.

Personal fitness goals:
I have ongoing challenges addressing various muscular and bio-mechanical issues with my own body. In 2012 I also want to improve my general strength and add a couple of kilos of lean muscle. I don’t want to add too much size or weight as I also have some goals for a number of mid-long distance trail running events, so I will be looking to keep my body fat between 8 – 11%.

Training Focus:
Craig specialises in results focused training. Whatever your goals Craig can help you achieve them faster providing you are prepared to put in the effort and make any changes necessary. Craig focuses a lot on good technique and muscle activation, posture and flexibility, developing core strength, rehabilitation and functional training, bodyweight training, and sport specific training. You will often see Craig working out using Swiss Balls, Bosu, TRX, doing floor work or boxing in addition to resistance (weight) training. Craig adopts a holistic approach to health and fitness, acknowledging that lifestyle, recovery and nutrition are vital components of a sustainable healthy lifestyle. Nutrition comprises up to 80% of your results and so Craig works on ensuring that the dietary portion of lifestyle is addressed with all clients.

NB if you are a competent trainer, have sound technique, good posture, no challenges regarding pain, muscle imbalances or tightness, have good nutrition, and know how to achieve your goals safely and effectively I am not going to try to sell you twice weekly personal training sessions.
