Enrich is a new Christian ecumenical chaplaincy service for people with intellectual disabilities. 

We seek to assist in meeting spiritual, emotional, social and religious needs by providing support as needed including:

  • Visiting residents and staff in homes
  • Recruiting, training and supporting volunteers to visit homes, build community and assist with balls and various programmes
  • Appropriate specially adapted church services in various venues across the city
  • Sharing and assisting with planning at times of celebration  
  • Being there in times of crisis, sickness, death and grief
  • Assisting with appropriate arrangements for funeral services to celebrate the life of a person with intellectual disability
  • Specially tailored Alpha and Alpha Club programmes
  • Christian programmes at day providers and homes
  • Christmas balls
  • Training workshops for staff
  • Assisting with holiday picnics and programmes

WEEKLY: 

SPREYDON - TUESDAY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP (Spreydon Baptist)

When:  7:30-9:00pm.  No services  early Dec through to early Feb.

Where:  Spreydon Baptist Church.  Cnr Lyttelton and Cobham Streets, Chch.

Other Stuff: Supper provided.  Some transport provided.

RICHMOND - DELTA COMMUNITY CHURCH (North Avon Baptist)

A welcoming and relaxed service especially aimed to involve people who face serious difficulties in life.  Plus pastoral support and occasional social events.

When:  Currently, Mondays, drinks from 1:30, service from 2:30-3:30.  (At some stage hoping to return to their usual time: Mondays drinks from 6:15, service 7:00-8:15, supper to follow). No service public holidays.  Services run from the last Monday of January to the first Monday of December.

Where:  North Avon Baptist Church Lounge, cnr North Avon Rd and Petrie St, Richmond, Chch. (At some stage hoping to return to Delta Community House, cnr North Avon Rd and Chrystal St).Other Stuff: Transport provided, if needed, within a reasonable distance.

TEMPLETON - HOLY FAMILY CHAPEL SERVICE (Enrich Community Chaplaincy)A friendly and fun service especially involving people with intellectual disabilities. 

When: Sundays 11am.  

Where: Holy Family Chapel, Kirk Rd, Templeton (next to the Waitaha learning centre)

Other Stuff:  Morning tea provided.

MONTHLY: 

PARKLANDS - AROHA SERVICE  (Parklands Baptist)Friendly services with music, song, prayer, scripture and socialising, followed by afternoon tea.

Where: Parklands Baptist Community Church, 180 Queenspark Drive, Chch.

When: 1st Saturday of each month. Gather at 1.15pm. Service starts at 1.30pm

Other Stuff:  Please bring finger food to share (try to bring it on a throw-away plate).

FAITH AND LIGHT  Celebration, prayer, shared lunch, community building, and support.

HORNBY – FAITH AND LIGHT SERENITY COMMUNITY 

When: 2nd Sunday of each month (no meeting in December) , 12pm-3:00pm.  

Where: St Bernadette's Catholic Church hall, 76 Hei Hei Road, Chch.  

REDWOOD – FAITH AND LIGHT NUKU MAI COMMUNITY 

When: 3rd Sunday of each month 12:00-2:30pm. 

Where: St Luke's Presbyterian Church, cnr Main North Rd and Daniel's Rd, Chch.

BISHOPDALE - FAITH AND LIGHT CORNERSTONE COMMUNITY 

When: 4th Sunday of each month, 12 – 3pm (may have a break December). 

Where: St Gregory's Catholic Church, 30 Cotswold Ave, Chch.

FAITH AND LIGHT RAINBOW COMMUNITY

When: 4th Sunday of each month, 12-3pm (In 2011 there will be no meeting in December).

BI-MONTHLY OR LESS: 

AVONHEAD - SPECIALLY GIFTED FRIENDS SERVICE (Avonhead Baptist)

Lunch provided, opportunity to do a small craft beforehand, followed by a short service.

When: 3rd Sunday of even months, 12.30 – 2pm. 

Where: Avonhead Baptist Church, 102 Avonhead Rd, Chch.

CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP FOR THE DISABLED

Christian encouragement for people with (and without) disabilities.  Shared lunch, worship, prayer, teaching, social events. 

When: 2nd Saturday of even months, 11:30-3:30. 

Where: Varies.

ARANUI - ST AMBROSE ANGLICAN CHURCH

When: 24 July and 18 December 2011, 1.30– 3.00 followed by afternoon tea.

REDWOOD - ST SILAS ANGLICAN CHURCH

HORNBY - ST COLOMBA’S FRIENDSHIP CLUB

When: Mondays 7-9:30pm (breaks for public holidays and all January).

Where: St Colomba’s Anglican Church, 452 Main South Rd, Hornby, Chch.

BRYNDWR - ALPHA CLUB

An interactive, visual and fun programme centred around Christian faith – singing and prayer, puppets, Bible DVD clips, topic discussion using visuals, skits and craft activities.

Where:  Bryndwr Baptist Church, cnr Clyde and Aorangi Rd, Chch.

When Thursdays 7.30pm – 9pm. Two Semesters: End of February – Early July. End of August – Early December.

Other Stuff:  Supper Provided

Cost: $10.00 for half year to cover expenses.

HALSWELL DANCES

When: 7pm -9pm, last Friday of June, August, October, February, and April.

Where:  Halswell Baptist Church, 6 Balcairn St, Halswell, Chch.

Other Stuff: Cost $2 and bring a plate for supper.
