Tuakau College library manager Lorrain Kraushaar was delighted to receive a copy of “New Zealand Native Trees” recently from local MP Dr Paul Hutchison.
“I had heard of the book and it sounded fantastic, with excellent photos, so it’s wonderful to have this book in our library,” she says. “The book will provide a wonderful resource for the students.” Copies of “New Zealand Native Trees” have been donated to secondary and intermediate schools in Hunua through the Nelson-based Dick Roberts Community Trust.

“Dick Roberts was an avid supporter of science, education and New Zealand native bush,” explains Dr Hutchison. “It’s great to be able to give this iconic book to local schools, such as Tuakau College, View Road School, and Waiuku College to help students learn about, and identify, our native trees.  “Most New Zealand plants are unique in the world and it’s important our children understand and protect these for the future.”
