Low impact exercise based around simple travelling steps. It is designed as exercise but expressed as dance. Judith offers simple movement sequences to which you can add your own flair with arms, shoulders, hips - or you can just follow along. Each person can adapt to their own level of fitness and ability. It isn’t about be “right” but having fun.
Q: What sort of “dance” is it?
A: It is a freestyle fusion dance based on a number of influences including modern jazz and belly dance. It is not a partner or line dance.
Q: What do I wear?
A: You can wear comfortable clothes to exercise in - or if you prefer, something to feel a little bit special. Footwear should enable you to move so high heels are not recommended (Judith herself works in bare feet). For women, a supportive bra is recommended.
Q: Is technique taught?
A: The emphasis is on movement sequences ie walking. Torso, hip and arm sequences will be modelled and brief explanations given but to learn this from scratch something like Belly Dance Basics is recommended.
