Advanced Feed produces a range of quality products designed to meet the requirements of today’s modern farming practises, which have been designed in consultation with our clients and formulated by our professional nutritional company, Vitec Nutrition Ltd.

Advanced Feed specialises in custom made feeds for the dairy industry.  We provide quality blended feed in requested preparations, normally for delivery the next day.  Additives like magnesium, calcium, etc can be included in your custom blend.

Due to the highly computerised equipment utilised in both the pelletising and the blending plants, a high degree of accuracy is achieved when ingredients are weighed for mixing. This ensures each batch in a line of feed will be exactly the same, meaning that over a season your first tonne of feed will be exactly the same as your last tonne.

Utilising computerised equipment allows Advanced Feed to add ingredients to formulations to meet the specific requirements of our clients whether that is adding extra magnesium to dairy feed or copper to deer pellets. This can be done efficiently and cost effectively.

Quality Assurance

Advanced Feed manufactures a quality range of high energy calf pellets. A 20% Protein Starter Pellet is designed to be fed to calves almost from day one. As soon as the calves are drinking milk well, the starter pellet can be introduced to their diet (day 7 to day 14). Due to the high quantity of molasses in the starter pellet, calves are attracted to the feed and the major advantage of using pellets is that it does not dry out as meal does over a day. The 20% Starter Pellet can be fed to your calves for as long as you like.  Our 16% Protein Finisher Pellet designed to be fed to your calves once they are eating grass. Due to the high protein level of grass the protein level of the pellet can be reduced as the calves’ protein intake is adequate.

Starter Pellet

Advanced Feed utilises computer controlled milling techniques in the manufacture of this high energy pellet designed to assist calves in reaching their full growth potential at an early age. The pellet is manufactured using only high quality grains and includes wheat, barley, peas, linseed, dehydrated vegetables and soya meal. A full array of trace elements and minerals are also included. These include magnesium, copper, cobalt, zinc, calcium and selenium. We have also included an essential yeast extract as advised by our expert nutrition advisors to enhance rumen development and to ensure good growth rates are achieved throughout the growing season. Together with molasses and salt to enhance palatability, a well balanced and nutritious calf feed is created.

Finisher Pellet

Advanced Feed manufactures a large range of quality feed for dairy cows, from rolled grains, to complete diet pelletised feed. Advanced Feed is able to specialise each batch of feed to meet the exact requirements of individual farmers because of its specialised and automated equipment. This enables us to target feed for specific times of the year: for instance, add extra lime for calcium at the start of the milking season, extra protein when the grass growth is slow, and minerals to meet individual herd requirements. We are able to manufacture the formula into a pellet if required or into a dairy blend for in-shed feeding.

The advantages of pelletising include:-

  • A higher ME level due to the steam conditioning. As the meal is pelletised it travels through a steam conditioner which heats the meal and makes the starches more readily available and therefore easier for livestock to digest, thus enhancing the ME level

Why do we have supplementary feeding now?

  1. To provide dry matter when pasture growth is poor or access to pasture is limited (due to environmental conditions)
  2. To try and meet the energy gap during peak lactation
  3. To provide strategic minerals, e.g. magnesium (for grass staggers)
  4. To increase milk solid yields

Advantages of supplementary feeding

  1. Increases milk solid yields per cow per day
  2. Increases lactation length and thereby increases milk solid yields per annum

Advanced Feed manufactures feed specifically for sheep and ensures the required nutrients are available to the sheep depending on the timing of the required feed, i.e. sheep feed designed to be fed to lambs for targeted weight gain or sheep feed to be fed to ewes over the winter for maintenance prior to lambing. Again with the computer controlled milling and blending, Advanced Feed can manufacture the feed to the farmer’s exact requirements. This ensures only the required nutrients are used and this limits using ingredients that are not required for the farmer’s stock.

Advanced Feed manufactures a quality range of deer pellets designed to meet the requirements of deer throughout the seasons. Our standard deer pellet is manufactured using quality grains and is barley based with wheat, molasses, minerals and vitamins added to ensure the deer are receiving all nutrients required. This formula can be modified to meet individual farmer requirements. We also manufacture a high protein deer pellet. This pellet is barley based with wheat, but also includes peas to increase protein specifically for velvet production. We have added copper needles direct to these formulae under a veterinary prescription to give your deer their copper requirement in their feed rather than having to copper bullet them.

Advanced Feed, utilising the expertise of Vitec Nutrition, manufactures a range of quality Horse Feed. This range of horse feed is designed to supply all the nutritional elements horses, either in work or not, require on a daily basis. Our horse feed is manufactured using only high quality grain, predominantly barley based with wheat, peas and soya bean meal. The range of feed is pelletised to enhance the ME levels and to create a highly palatable horse feed through the addition of molasses during the pelletising process.

Oat Balancer. – A high quality, high energy feed designed to be mixed with the roughage in your horse’s diet, be it oats, barley, chaff, etc. The mixing rate is 25% oat balancer to 75% roughage. At this rate the horses are consuming the required daily intake of essential elements.

Performance Horse. – A high quality feed designed to be fed to working horses either racing or eventing. With a higher quantity of peas, the finished feed has a protein level of 14%, together with the energy from grain, this assists in providing a high quality performance horse feed.
