The skills I can offer include:

  • Familiarity with a range of approaches for working with children, adults, couples, families and groups to achieve change and growth
  • Extensive experience with a range of psychotherapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy, systems theory, family therapy, schema therapy, psychodrama, motivational interviewing and strengths based therapies
  • Extensive experience with presentations of anxiety and depression, grief and loss, family dysfunction, sexual orientation, sexual dysfunction, suicidality and self harm, new immigrant issues and sexual victimisation and perpetration
  • Sound analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal ability
  • Assessment and intervention with sexual offenders
  • Strengths in bicultural and multicultural practice
  • Clinical and cultural supervision

  • Experience in the design and delivery of training material for up to 50 people

Marital conflict, parenting through and after separation, changing families, loss and grief, coming out, migration related, mental illness, sexual abuse victimisation or perpetration and relationship strengthening, to name a few. Families come in all shapes and sizes – small, spread out, same-sex, inter-generational and multi-ethnic, to name a few. As part of my practice I see children, adults, couples, families and whanau.

Children | Rashi Gadekar - Counsellor, Therapist

Children experiencing difficulties with sexualised behaviour, self-esteem, mental health (e.g. anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder), separation, grief. Families who may be experiencing difficulties with parenting and family relationships. I work using narrative and cognitive behavioural therapies with. Children who may have experienced sexual abuse or other trauma.


Supervision and Mentoring | Rashi Gadekar

My preference is for the supervision hour to provide food for thought, some research or practice references to support those positions and a detailed clinical (or management, cultural, organisational) discussion on the basis of which to use new skills or dust off old ones.
