Nurse Maude's Continence Advisory Service provides confidential support, assessment, treatment, education and continence products for anyone over four years of age. We can help if you: have difficulty getting to the toilet on time, make frequent visits to the toilet, day or night, have bladder leakage when coughing, sneezing or exercising, or if you have bowel leakage or other bowel problems.

Our service also includes advice and information about catheter management, liaison with other health professionals and agencies, and information and education for the community and health professionals.

Consultations are with a continence advisor, who is a registered nurse or physiotherapist with further training in the specialist area of continence management.

Our service can accessed directly by clients, or their families/whanau, their doctor, surgeon or hospital.

Clients living in the Canterbury area do not have to pay for consultations or treatment. Continence supplies are partially subsidised however there will be a charge if clients choose to have supplies sent to them by courier.

By appointment 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday at 35 Mansfield Avenue, Christchurch. Clinics are also held at 49 Blackett St, Rangiora.

Stomal Service

The service includes visits in hospital, and at home after discharge, arranging for ostomy equipment, clinics for regular checks and assessments, access to other health professionals and agencies and prescriptions for ostomy appliances. The aim of Stomal Therapy is to gives clients, their families/whanau and carers, the resources they need to live with a stoma independently, comfortably, and with dignity.


Dietitian Service

Dietary information to promote wellbeing, and monitoring and adjustment of nutritional programmes for people with life-limiting illnesses, is also available either in our clients' homes,, or at the dietitians clinic at Nurse Maude. Clients can be referred by other health care professionals within Nurse Maude such as Community Nursing, Specialist Nursing Services, Home Care, Hospice and Palliative Care or the Nurse Maude Hospital.

Community Nursing, Home Health & Homecare NZ

Nurse Maude provides community nursing for anyone who needs care so, wherever possible, they can remain in their own home, rather than enter a hospital or residential care, or to support them in returning to their own home or community after receiving hospital care.


Diabetes Service

Nurse Maude provides assistance, support and information for people newly diagnosed with diabetes and their families in their own home or workplace from Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm, including assistance with the start of insulin or changes in medication. By appointment 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, at 35 Mansfield Avenue, Christchurch.


Wound Care

Nurse Maude's Wound Management Service is for people who need specialist assessment of their wounds and those who have, or are at risk of developing, leg ulcers. The Wound Management Service will advise if charges will be covered by ACC or the Canterbury District Health Board, or if they need to be paid by the client.
