Marty Van Der Burg, of Auckland, has taken a huge bundle of blankets with him on his latest visit to Ethiopia.
Marty, an Auckland builder, has visited Ethiopia several times on construction projects. He has built houses there for Habitat for Humanity and he was also responsible for building the replacement housing for the people relocated from the site where the Hamlin Midwifery School now stands.
Marty is an enthusiastic supporter of the work of the fistula hospitals so he always takes blankets with him. This time he has taken 100 kilograms of blankets. Our thanks to Marty and to the women who knitted millions of stitches to make them.
